A curbstone gives direction, points out where the traffic should be, but is given here a second function by raising it a little more from the ground level and adding integrated lighting and rubber seats, thus upgrading it into an elegantly curved public seating system. The rubber that was used to cover and soften the surface of the seat is made from pressed granulate from used automobile inner tubes. Winner of the Third International Design Resource Awards Competition (Seattle 1996/97). Lent by the designers.
