Like sawdust in the wood-processing industry, tanneries and other leather-processing industries produce waste which is not simply thrown away. This leather waste is collected, ground and blended with caoutchouc (natural rubber), natural oils, fats and dyes to produce a new material in a process comparable to that of recycling paper and cardboard.
