In 1995, Levi Strauss Japan introduced a limited edition of the Soda Pop Denim Levi's¨ jeans, made from denim yarn interwoven with 20% recycled polyester, which is the equivalent of 2 PET-bottles. Denim refuse, the remnants of cotton fabric from which Levi's jeans are made, are also recycled into denim paper. This paper is used for the company's letterheads, business cards and other paper products. In this way the company recycles 600 tons of denim scrap every year, which saves over 8,000 trees. Levis's¨ scrap is utilised in roofing, building materials, motor helmets, insulation and car seats. Gift from Levi Strauss Europe.
